Years ago I heard a sermon by Nona Freeman. She told how Jesus died on Golgotha, “which being interpreted, The place of a skull ” (Mark 15:22). She explained how the skull contains the mind and that Jesus not only died for forgiveness of sin and physical healing, but he also died for our minds. His desire is for our minds to be healed and whole.
Today when you see Golgotha you can see the profile of a skull. Whether this is how it appeared in Jesus’ time, I don’t know. Look closely and you can see the eye sockets in the first photo and the nose profile in the second photo.
Thank you Jesus. Thank you for every drop of blood you shed. Redeemer and Healer, help me to renew my mind (Romans 12:2).
