The Value of Friends

In the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:46b

Two months ago I faced a dilemma. Although I’d prayed about the situation, I followed my prayer by presenting my predicament to six close friends.

I spoke to the first friend on the phone, and she gave me wise counsel. The weeks following our phone conversation I sought the objective opinionĀ of five more friends. Interestingly, all six friends gave me the same advice. Their answer matched what I was feeling as God’s will. God’s answer plus my friends’ confirmations gave me the security I needed. Thank you Jesus for my friends.

  • I was reminded when reading this post of Pastor Willeford’s Sunday sermon. He said, “If you want to know God’s will for your life, read His Word. If friend’s advise you and it runs contrary to His Word, shake it off. If their advice concurs with His Word it is confirmation.” His advise, seek Godly counsel. I know of some who will seek out those they know will agree with them, not saying you do, but they sometimes seek ungodly counsel because they know it will go along with what they think.
    Thanks for the wonder posts.
